You would think after having the season that Ceedee Lamb had last season, the Cowboys would be doing everything in their power to keep him in Dallas for the long term and sign him to a mega contract. Ever since the Cowboys drafted him back in 2020, Ceedee Lamb's stats have just exceeded expectations, at least you would think with any NFL team they would be.
Last season, Lamb was second in the league in receiving yards with 1,749, and second in touchdown receptions with 12. He was even a candidate for Offensive Player of the Year. Any sensible NFL team would make sure their star wide receiver is paid and kept on their team for the long run. But this has been just embarrassing for the Cowboys at this point.
Ceedee Lamb has yet to report to training camp, the Cowboys are don't have a lot of space to work with in terms of salary cap, not to mention their star quarterback, Dak Prescott, is a free agent next season, and Micah Parsons will have to be paid in a few short seasons as well. Safe to say the front office isn't exactly trying their hardest to ensure that the Cowboys are still a threat in the NFC power rankings, or they are in no hurry to speed up the process.
Players are partially to blame though. As the market goes up, players are expected to be paid higher and higher especially with more guaranteed money at contract signing. But for any NFL team, especially the Cowboys, you are going to have to cough up the money to keep star players, especially Ceedee Lamb.
