Short of three months after the draft, Rome Odunze is officially a Chicago Bear. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has reported that the former Washington wide receiver has signed a four-year deal worth $22.7 million with a fifth-year option. Odunze also gets 13.3 million in a signing bonus as part of the deal.
Chicago picked Odunze at No. 9 overall after selecting who they hope to be their franchise quarterback in Caleb Williams. The Utah native joins a strong receiver room behind D.J. Moore and Keenan Allen to provide another dynamic weapon to Chicago's offense in hopes of propelling them back to the playoffs for the first time in six seasons.
Last season, Odunze put up 1,640 yards on 92 catches, 13 touchdowns, and averaged 17.8 yards per reception. In four seasons on the West Coast, Odunze put up 3,272 yards, and 24 touchdowns on 214 catches (15.3 yards per catch).
Odunze is the fourth member of Chicago's five-player 2024 draft class to sign his rookie contract, joining offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie, punter Tory Taylor, and defensive end Austin Booker.
