Philadelphia Eagles Acquire WR Jahan Dotson From Commanders for Three Draft Picks

The Philadelphia Eagles are adding another talented receiver to compliment AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. The Eagles added a plethora of receivers this off season, but GM Howie Roseman wasn't done yet. After reports of Commanders WR Jahan Dotson performing poorly in camp, there were rumors of him possibly being traded or even cut.

The Eagles sent a third round draft pick and two seventh round picks to Washington for Dotson and a fifth round draft pick. During camp Paris Campbell, Britain Covey, John Ross, and rookie Johnny Wilson all got reps with the first team as WR3, but none of them were good enough to claim the third receiver spot. With the Eagles acquiring Dotson it seems they expect him to fill that WR3 spot.

Dotson doesn't have super flashy numbers, but he was a contributor for Washington in his two season spent there. He has a total of 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns in those two seasons while averaging 12.4 yards per reception. He also replaces the speed that was lost with Quez Watkins leaving in free agency to join the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dotson runs a 4.43 40-time which ranks in the 90th percentile. He also has two years left on his rookie deal so the Eagles don't have to commit to paying him anything until he proves himself. The Eagles haven't had a solid WR3 since AJ Brown joined the team, so Dotson could be just what the Eagles have been missing.
