Legacy Motor Club Inks Extension with Erik Jones

Nascar driver Erik Jones is staying in the 43 car. On Tuesday, Erik agreed to a multiyear contract extension with Legacy Motor Club to continue driving the team's number 43 car. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but Jones is probably signed through the 2026 season at least, perhaps longer.

“Erik Jones has been the consistent cornerstone of Legacy Motor Club’s driver lineup since Maury chose to enter NASCAR’s highly competitive Cup division,” Cal Wells III, CEO of Legacy Motor Club, said in a team release. “He’s a proven champion that, surrounded with the right team powered by Toyota, can and will compete for race wins against the very best on any given Sunday. Having personally known Erik for close to 14 years, I feel blessed he’s chosen to remain with the Club, and I’m looking forward to winning races with him at the helm of the iconic No. 43.”

Jones is in his fourth year with Legacy Motor Club. This season, he has struggled and missed two races after suffering a back injury at Talladega in May. He has just one top-ten finish, an average finish of 22.5, and is 28th in the points standings.

The extension comes after Legacy Motor Club underwent an organizational shakeup. Engineer Jacob Canter has taken over as the team's new director of competition, and Bobby Kennedy was hired to fill the newly created position of general manager. LMC is hoping that these moves can spark something for Jones, who has three wins, 37 top fives, and 89 top tens at NASCAR's highest level.
