How Much Does Jamal Adams' Release Affect the Seahawks Draft Plans?

In the 2024 NFL Draft build-up, speculation around the Seattle Seahawks' plans for their first-round pick should be changing. Many mock drafts see the possibility of the Seahawks snagging a middle first-round quarterback, capitalizing on these seemingly incredible QB draft classes. However, I think the landscape has shifted dramatically for the Seahawks following the surprising release of three-time defensive pro bowler Jamal Adams.

The departure of Adams has left a gap in the Seahawks' defensive scheme. While not your standard safety, his ability to rush the passer has been devastating when healthy. Will they prioritize boosting team defense with another safety to fill Adams' shoes at that position, or possibly opt for an edge rusher to shore up their pass rush?

With this talent-filled quarterback group available in this year's draft, I am speculating that the Seahawks might forgo a first-round QB pick, instead opting to address their defensive needs early on. With the depth of quarterback talent available, they could find a quality signal-caller in the second round, avoiding the need to trade up an earlier draft pick and still allowing them to show that their best option might not be on the top of everyone else's boredom.

As the draft approaches, my eyes are on Seattle as they prepare to make what I will find to be a unique decision that could shape the trajectory of their season. Will they prioritize defensive stability or instead go for an offensive overhaul? Only time will tell, but one thing is sure: the Seahawks have my eyes on the defense for their first-round pick.
