In what is sure to be one of this week's top games, the Philidelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night in Arrowhead Stadium. This rematch of Super Bowl 57, in which the Chiefs beat the Eagles 38-35, sees the 8-1 Eagles looking for a different outcome against the 7-2 Chiefs. Both teams are in contention for a playoff bye, and a win here would put either team in a great position coming down the back stretch of the season. Both teams are coming off a much-needed bye week, so expect the teams to be well-rested for this pivotal matchup. The Chiefs will be looking to build off a narrow win in Germany against the Dolphins, where both high-flying offenses were largely held at bay. The man many expect to be the difference-maker for the Chiefs is, of course, star tight end Travis Kelce, who has been the focal point of their offense whenever he is healthy. Pop star Taylor Swift will be in attendance, and as much as that shouldn’t have an outcome on the game, Kelce has averaged 108 yards per game with her in the stands compared to 41.3 yards per game otherwise. While quarterback Patrick Mahomes may be known for his amazing ball distribution, the offense severely lacks other playmakers in the receiving department.
The Eagles hope to follow up a narrow victory against the Dallas Cowboys, in a game where missed opportunities for the Cowboys were the difference in the final scoreline. Their team has been electric, especially on defense, with rookie Jalen Carter lighting up opposing quarterbacks around the league.
Both teams have become premier contenders in recent years, and if the season ended today, they would both be at the top of their conference and have byes going into the playoffs. We can only hope that this matchup is as good as their last clash and that many more will come.
