The Diamondbacks finally secured their top end starter they desperately needed, signing former Detroit Tigers ace Eduardo Rodriguez on a 4 year, 80 million dollar deal with bonuses and vesting options that potentially get the deal up to 5 years, 99 million dollars.
Rodriguez pitched his best season of his career in 2023, pitching to the likes of a 3.30 ERA, starting 26 games pitching to a 13-9 record, striking out 143 batters in 152.2 innings pitched while only walking 48 batters.
This is a straight steal for the Diamondbacks as this brings the best 1-2 punch in the west, with Zac Gallen being the ace and E-Rod coming in as the 2, along with postseason hero Merrill Kelly as the 3, rookie stud Brandon Pfaadt as the 4 and southpaw Tommy Henry as the 5.
Arizona will get Rodriguez up until his age 35 season, which keeps the Diamondbacks in contention to bring the kids a World Series back to the desert.
As always, LET THE KIDS PLAY!
