BREAKING: CeeDee Lamb, Cowboys agree to 4-year, $136 million contract extension

Just over two weeks after Dallas Cowboys owner, president and general manager Jerry Jones told reporters, "I don't have any urgency to get [a CeeDee Lamb contract extension] done," and today the Cowboys locked up their superstar wide receiver on a four-year, $136 million contract extension.

This new deal makes Lamb the second highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL, trailing only Justin Jefferson's $140 million contract from the Minnesota Vikings. Lamb's new contract gave him a $38 million signing bonus, the highest ever for a wide receiver.

The 17th pick in the 2020 draft, Lamb has emerged as one of the league's best wide receivers with three straight 1,000-yard seasons. Lamb broke out in 2023 and set career highs in yards (1,749), touchdowns (12) and receptions (135). He ranked second in the NFL in touchdowns catches and receiving yards while leading the league in receptions. As a result, Lamb was named to the NFL All-Pro first team.

Lamb already ranks eighth in Cowboys franchise history despite only playing four seasons, with 5,145 receiving yards.

With Lamb signing, all eyes turn to two other star wide receivers seeking an extension of their own in the Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase and 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk, who has supposedly made a request to be dealt out of San Francisco as soon as possible.

The Cowboys will now focus on extending quarterback Dak Prescott and defensive end Micah Parsons, who are both nearing the end of their contracts and are due big paydays.

Dallas will open its season on Sep. 8 in Cleveland, in a matchup between two of the top defenses in 2023.
