2025 NFL Offseason Pre-Tampering Period: My Reaction So Far to Top Signings

As the NFL gears up for the 2025 season, this offseason has already shown to be a thrilling period filled with high-stakes moves, player releases, and franchise-shaping decisions. After a rather boring postseason, teams are already looking to bolster their rosters, offload aging contracts, and set themselves up for a championship run. We have already had major releases, trades, and extensions this season that have shaken the NFL base. Here's a look at the key stories and moves to watch as the NFL enters a new chapter.

Seattle Seahawks Release Tyler Lockett

It had to happen. Sorry, Seahawks fans. Lockett has been a huge part of the Seahawks organization for the past 10 seasons and has been a huge part of the Seahawks identity, but he's getting old. Injuries have plagued his career, and he isn't in his prime anymore. He can still play, but he would be a WR3 or 4. Lockett will probably be picked up by a team that needs a veteran wide receiver to mentor their young core, or just for depth purposes. The Giants, Patriots, and Raiders are teams I can see him going to. Here's hoping for his future.

Ravens Re-Up Franchise Left Tackle Ronnie Stanley on a Three-Year Deal

Huge win for the Ravens. Lamar Jackson keeps his most trusted blindside blocker, and the Ravens keep their best offensive lineman. The Chiefs were eyeing Stanley in the free agency, rumors of illegal tampering, and I would've gone nuclear if they picked him up. The Ravens made sure that didn't happen and re-signed Stanley to a 3-year $60 million dollar deal. After blowing out every ligament in his knee in 2020, Stanley had a long road to recovery and was finally at full strength in the 2024 season. Stanley loves Baltimore, and Baltimore loves Stanley. Again, it was a huge win for the Ravens as they keep their offensive line leader.

Raiders Give Maxx Crosby a Staggering Three-Year $106.5 Million Dollar Extension

I'm not surprised by this one. Crosby is the lifeblood of the Vegas Raiders. Trying not to keep him would be incredibly idiotic. I wish he was a Raven, but I'm glad he is getting the bag he deserves. On a rebuilding franchise, he will be perfect as a locker room leader for this team. Plus, he gets the chance to keep sacking Patrick Mahomes at least twice a year, which I am not opposed to watching.

Josh Allen Gets a Six-Year Extension from the Bills

Well-deserved contract for the controversial MVP. I say controversial because of the voting done for 2024 MVP season, but I don't think anyone was upset about it. Allen is the backbone of the Bills; without him, the Bills would not see the playoffs. The Bills and Allen agreed to a massive six-year, $330 million contract extension. It includes a $250 million guarantee, the largest guarantee for a player in NFL history, beating out Deshaun Watson's deal on the Browns by $20 million. The Bills have their superstar QB until 2030, solidifying that Josh is their man and nobody is more deserving of a deal to be the Bills' QB.
